LRISS had an awesome day doing outreach on Sunday, August 7. We first went to the Marble Canyon Campground and set up an info booth by the entrance. We had a great time talking with campers from all over, including a large group of kids very eager to learn about invasives (and get cool invasive plants temporary tattoos).
We then headed to the annual Lions Fishing Derby. What fun that was! Over 50 fishermen and women participated in the derby and LRISS was there to greet them as they came back to shore with their catch. We handed out Aquatic Invasive Species booklets and promoted Clean Drain Dry, which encourages you to 'clean drain dry' all boats and equipment to help reduce the spread of invasive plants and organisms to BC waters.
